Grief & Loss Counselling

At Grief & Growth Counselling, I provide professional and compassionate support for individuals navigating grief, loss, and life transitions. My approach is centred on building a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, respected, and understood.

I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-based approaches to help you make sense of your experiences, develop practical coping strategies, and reconnect with your values.

Together, we focus on honouring your story, maintaining meaningful connections to what matters, and identifying realistic steps forward acknowledging the significance of what you have experienced.

Grief & Loss counselling concerns

  • loss of a family member, partner or friend

  • pregnancy or child related loss

  • relationship or friendship loss

  • estranged relationship

  • pet loss

  • identity and role loss - work (retirement or redundancy) or personal (children leaving home)

General Counselling

Life can feel overwhelming at times — but within you already exists the capacity for resilience, clarity, and change.

Using Solution-Focused Therapy our work focuses on building psychological flexibility, strengthening emotional wellbeing, and aligning your actions with your values.

Together, we move beyond simply managing challenges and toward intentional growth, confidence, and lasting wellbeing.

Advanced Study Majors - Grief & Loss Counselling - Mindfulness Based Therapies

At Grief & Growth Counselling, I offer a gentle and supportive space where you can feel truly heard.

Grief, loss, and life’s transitions can feel overwhelming and deeply personal, and you don’t have to navigate them alone. My role is to sit alongside you, to hold space with compassion and without judgement, and to allow your story to unfold at a pace that feels right for you.

I believe grief doesn’t need to be rushed or “fixed.” It needs to be witnessed. Together, we honour your experiences and create room for living memories, while exploring how you might move forward in a way that feels meaningful and aligned with your values.

My work draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness practices. This means we gently make space for difficult thoughts and feelings, recognise your existing strengths, and reconnect with what matters most to you. Through mindfulness and self-care, we build steadiness and resilience, even in the midst of uncertainty.

Growth doesn’t mean leaving your loss behind. It means allowing it to shape you in ways that deepen self-understanding, compassion, and intention.

At Grief & Growth Counselling, you’ll find a space where your story matters, your memories are honoured, and your capacity for healing and growth is supported every step of the way.

  • Confidentiality and Record Keeping

In general, the information that you share with me will remain confidential. This means that I must protect your privacy and not share information about you with others.

This applies whether the information is given to me verbally or in written form and extends to the fact that you have attended or are going to attend counselling with me.

I have a legal obligation to protect this information, and I do so by ensuring that all paper records are kept in a secure filing cabinet to which nobody else has access; that all electronic records are kept in secure documents to which nobody else has access; and that I keep information with your identity (such as your booking enquiry and initial consultation form) separate from your session/contact notes.

I will keep your counselling records for at least seven (7) years, and in some cases I may be required by law to retain records for a longer period.

    Limits of Confidentiality

It is important that you understand, however, that there are certain circumstances under which I will share information about you or about what you have told me. These situations are:

    •     In some cases where a significant crime may be or has been committed.

    •     Where your counselling records, or part thereof, have been requested by a court of law.

At times, I may also discuss aspects of our work together with my professional supervisor. This is an important part of meeting my professional responsibilities. I will not provide information that could identify you in the course of these discussions.

Mandatory Reporting and Limits of Confidentiality (Children) – Informed Consent

Clients are advised that while counselling is confidential, there are legal and ethical limits to confidentiality. If the counsellor forms a reasonable suspicion that a child is experiencing, or is at risk of experiencing, significant harm, the counsellor may be required to share relevant information with appropriate authorities in accordance with the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld).

In addition, under the Criminal Code Act 1899 (Qld), adults in Queensland may be required to report knowledge or reasonable belief of a sexual offence against a child to police unless a lawful exception applies.

Where concerns about a child’s safety arise, the counsellor will take appropriate action to help ensure the child’s protection, which may include making a report to relevant authorities. Clients will be informed of this process where it is safe and appropriate to do so.
